Line Form
This piece explored the results of creating a variable extrusion from a line in an effort to create volume and void. The object was created by taking the “final line” of a previous project and subtly altering it at 25 even intervals. The result was a canyon-like slot and its sculptural counterpart.
Through the observation of these two volumes it becomes clear that their pairing is essential in understanding the full detail of the form. In many cases, the canyon-like space created by the extrusion is better understood through the solid representation of its negative space, where the various pockets, narrows, and curves can be more clearly seen.
